Daleside Manor
Kasauli was founded as a place of rest. Once a convalescent station for the British en route to Simla and the higher Himalayas, it remains a hill town defined by quiet rather than pace.
Still largely administered by the Army, Kasauli has preserved its timeless character. It is a place for slow walks beneath the pines, long lunches, good company, and the simple pleasure of mountain air.

Days begin with breakfast on the lawns. By afternoon, the question is simply where to linger - Birdwood, The Watering Hole, or beneath the pines on the lawns. Each offers a different mood, but the same unhurried rhythm.
Lovely in Summers, but even better in Winter
Summer brings a welcome escape from the heat of the plains. Winter offers a quieter season, when day visitors are few, the hills feel entirely your own, and clear skies, warming sunshine, forest walks, crackling bonfires, and an evening hot toddy become routine.
Healing since 1842
Kasauli first appeared in official records in 1842 and has long been a place of rest and acclimatisation before journeys into the higher Himalayas. The establishment of the historic The Lawrence School, Sanawar and the Lady Linlithgow Sanatorium reflected the same belief, that the crisp mountain air offered an ideal setting for children to thrive and for patients to recover.
